this past sunday, the university of hawai`i at manoa’s apparel product and design merchandising program’s (APDM) senior class held a fashion show at the pacific beach hotel. there was an amazingly diverse body of work being shown, the stage and setting for the show was great (actually it looked like it was quite a production), and it was a packed house. i was brought onto the show to provide media coverage, and of course i jumped at the opportunity to check out some fresh talent.
i can honestly say that this year’s senior class impressed me with their work. i shoot a lot of fashion and i found myself forgetting that these were college seniors’ undergraduate portfolio work, and not a small indie fashion collective showcasing their lines. there’s a lot to look forward to on the horizon around honolulu, it seems. congrats to the seniors, and you folks really managed to pull off a strong showing. here’s to many bigger and better things.
