the lightsleepers fam is one of the few local organizations that supports every element of hip hop. this past saturday, they hosted the sixth installment of inertia. featuring a bboy battle, a blackbook battle, live graffiti, DJing, and good vibes, this was a vibrant, positive gathering of folks who love hip hop.

i shot most of the day with a fast prime lens, cranking the ISO and overexposing, in many cases nearly 1 2/3 stops over. a high-contrast low saturation setting yielded gritty, flourescent-yellowed images. it was hard tracking fast-moving bboys and even harder managing DOF but it mostly turned out well.

big ups to the lightsleepers and everyone else involveed. can’t wait for trip the lights this friday!
