weekly_head

recently, i was hired by the honolulu weekly to shoot the cover and collateral images for their feature spread for the may 13th, 2009 issue. this issue featured summer reading, with an emphasis on local author chris mckinney. the assigment involved shooting portraits of the author tied loosely around several potential themes or ideas.

it was a relaxed afternoon of shooting, and after doing my thing for a while we setted into a good groove at la mariana. most of the images contained in the cover and in the article were captured there. thanks chris for being such a good sport, and of course big ups to ragnar, manny, and all of the other absolutely kickass folks at the weekly. go grab a copy, they’re free, and honestly the weekly is like the only regularly printed newspaper in the state that isn’t at least 50% full of…fluff.

if you want to read the article online, check it here. for a bonus youtube video documenting some of the shooting process, check this out. LOL.

UPDATE:  I’ve documented the creative process and included some unpublished images at thedropshadows.com ….peep it, its kind of worth a read!

I took a moment to read your Drop Shadows article. Pretty neat of you to explain that whole process.

    God bless, brother…
