so last saturday, actually the saturday before that, on may 23rd, there was a lot of stuff going down in honolulu. before i write about the night, let me preface that with an apology…yeah i know i hella slept on this update, but recently things have been getting busy. that means i’ve had less time to support the local arts & cultural scene…yes i do miss the fashion shows, parties, release parties, and __________(insert reason here) parties. but you gotta do what you gotta do, i suppose.

so what was this past saturday? well for starters, i headed over to stussy honolulu’s store to peep their big first birthday. the in4mation crew, contrast crew, mr. soul clap, and honolulu’s blog of the year were there, among many others. i also met a crew of very inspiring cats who were working on an amazing documentary project from my second home, SF. jules from leilow was on the 1s and 2s (he wrecked the decks at the stussy jump off exactly one year later, its kind of like an extra treat to see him do his thing every time stussy has a birthday) and there was of course a bevy of great food and drink to be had.

after that it was off to the mercury bar in chinatown to catch strange fruit featuring a few of my favorite hip hop/soul/funk musicians laying it down along with a few of my favorite artistes’s.

finally, for a change of scenery but some fresh music and the same great company i had at stussy, i headed over to the loft to celebrate the jump off of contrast magazine issue uno. big ups to the contrast crew, and thanks for instaxizing me this issue. dope dope dope!

haven’t gotten to get out and drink cover nightlife the way i used to and although the change of pace has been nice….nights like this remind me about why i started this whole thing to begin with. congrats to contrast, happy birthday stussy, and bigups strange fruit!
