opening up their three-island OOF! EP tour, the blue scholars rocked the loft this past friday.  it was good to catch a few old friends and some new ones in the HI playing a show.

what can i say about it?  the spacifics featuring emcees tassho pearce and creed chameleon got the party started, with extra special bonus guests bambu and DJ phatrick of the native guns easing us into the mainland talent set, and finishing up of course with the blue scholars.  it was a hot, sweaty, extra dope kind of night.  from a photography point of view, the loft is one of the more challenging venues i shoot in, because of the abundance of black surfaces (ceiling, etc), bouncing my strobe to get crazy lighting is always a challenge, and matte black surfaces at night tends to trick out the E-TTL, causing a subject to be way blown out.  so it was back to the old school, with a super smart canon DSLR and top of the line canon strobe…all manual.  i also dragged the ringflash around that night, and took a few amusing portraits.  i think the images turned out pretty aiiite.  it was a great show, and if you missed it don’t be too bummed, the boys are playing another show this coming friday at the loft!  don’t sleep.
