i was invited to be a contributing artist in the hurley anti-canvas boardshorts art show and charity auction. this show was, as far as we know, the first of its kind anywhere. using a crazy dye-sublimation printer, the folks at hurley were able to print production-quality, one-off pairs of boardshorts covered in the designs submitted by the guest artists. this whole party/charity auction went down this first friday and proceeds went to benefit either save our sports, the junior lifeguard program, or the samoa hurricane relief fund. the list of contributing artists was flooded with an intimidating amount of talent, and i was flattered to be included in their midst.
in between the anti canvas art show, i checked out the chamber music and art show at nextdoor (phenomenal!), crashed a christmas party at an amazing design firm, and ran into all sorts of other mischief, along with a few friends i haven’t seen in a while. and i did it all semi drunk with the new 7D and a fast prime lens in tow. i’ve been shooting more strobe-y, and less available light-y recently and it was nice to get back basics on this one.
it was a great first friday, very festive!
