somewhere in between the weekly gig with the star-advertiser and about 5 million other side projects, i’ve found my life and my nights becoming less and less free.  nowadays if i’m not actually shooting, i’m planning for a photo shoot, editing images, or working on like 10 things at any given time.  with less time than ever, i just haven’t been able to find the time to shoot the things i’d normally shoot if i didn’t have other things to do.  then again what’s “normal” these days is not having any time.

i stopped in at my favorite place, nextdoor, to catch broadcast this past wednesday.  the clones of the queen, the jumpoffs, and deep throat were on hand to put on a great little live local independent show.  it was nice to be able to shoot something my way, without worrying about qoutas or headcounts or any of the other, usual stuff i have to worry about.  it was a nice change in creative process to be able to shoot everything for arts’ sake.  i carried a light, simple rig, just my trusty 5D mkII and a light 50 1.4.  ahhhh.

the music was as (as always) super rad, and a few friends showed up, fresh from a “40 oz taste test” (don’t ask).  drunk antics and the freedom to shoot whatever i wanted was a nice change of pace…it was very different from my recent nightlife work, in that i was able to just sit around and shoot a random night with some friends as it unfolded organically.  i hope to do it again very soon.
